Mobile Phone Checklist
- Before you start your travels always remember the following:
- Contact your UK mobile network provider in order to ensure that your mobile phone is enabled for international roaming. Call your supplier at least 2 weeks before you travel.
- Check that your existing handset will work in the country you are travelling to.
- Ensure you are aware of the higher call costs whilst abroad as international roaming varies.
- Familiarise yourself with your mobile's voicemail retrieval system.
- Voicemail can be difficult to access whilst abroad, and you should ask your mobile network provider to provide some helpful hints before you travel
- Take an electrical adaptor for the charger plug, to keep your mobile telephone fully charged while you are abroad.
- Make a note of your mobile's serial number (also known as the IMEI number), your mobile telephone number and the telephone number of your operator's customer services (including UK dialling code).
- Keep everything in a safe place.
- Remember that if your passport is lost or stolen overseas, you must contact the nearest British Consulate or Embassy immediately for advice register your mobile telephone if you enter the Russian Federation.
